Last night's Tiny Showcase-Deth P. Sun

Not only is Deth one of my all-time favourite artists I actually managed to snag one of these prints thanks to my perfect little son waking me up at 5.20am and, as I warmed his bottle, I stumbled to the computer and hit 'Add to Cart'.

We all slept well after that.

As I type there are still six left. R-U-N!

Deth P. Sun's illustrated food journal

California's Deth P. Sun is most definetly one of my favourite artists at the moment. His style, while pretty unique, taps into a lot of nostalgic D&D type memories for me. His muted colour palettes (lots of blacks, greys, purples) highlighted with hot pinks and glowing yellows really work for me too. Deth's blog is always an interesting read, both for the art but also the other random tangents it routinely strolls down. One of my favourite tangents at the moment ties together his art and life nicely via his illustrated food journals. The scans/photos presented in the blog work nicely on their own but work best along with his fuller text. He likes mangoes (a lot, particularly juiced); apples, not so much.

His honesty and plain writing makes me smile. SImple as that. Check out the blog and his other sites too. There's normally some fairly affordable prints available, if you're suitably interested.

(Note: the link above takes you to all of his blog posts tagged with 'food')
