Chris Dent- illustrating the metropolis
London based illustrator Chris Dent's insanely detailed line work makes my head hurt. In a good way.

I love Jenni Rope's large scale wall drawings and her black and white work's great but check out her painting and (particularly) collage work for some bursts of colour.

Great drawing chops from Californian Derek Albeck, detailed graphite work accentuated with gouache rainbows.

Scottish artist David Galletly regularly blogs his responses to Illustration Friday challenges. This is one of the best yet; the prompt was 'clumsy'.
Laughing my ass off.

Lots of nice work available via Jaime's Etsy store and more to see (sketchbooks, drawnings, etc.) at www.jaimederringer.com
A menagerie of artists (including Ron Rege jr, Dan Zettwoch, Tony Millionaire and Ben Jones) create comics and illustrations inspired by Where The Wild Things Are. This one, by Sammy Harkham is amongst my faves.

I'm posting this for two reasons; 1) it is awesome. At 24"x24" and with that level of detail I'd have given up somewhere in the bottom left hand corner (assuming that I'd started drawing in the bottom left hand corner) 2) Laura's illustration work is really cool and new, to me at least.
Oh, ok, there's a 3) too...3) Out of the minute number of people who likely read this here blog, I know for a fact there's at least two of them in (currently snowy) sunny Bristol and they might appreciate it even more than I.
Anyway. The link's to Laura's Etsy page but you can also find out more via www.laurabarnard.co.uk Which I think you should.
Tom Gauld's work is-quite rightly-all over the internet lately, primarily in relation to his new book 'The Gigantic Robot' and you'll spy his book-jacket designs the next time you're in town. His to-the-point illustration and razor sharp writing is pretty faultless by my reckoning.
I should admit that I know Tom in a round-about way, from his time at art college here in Edinburgh and he's a thoroughly good guy, even trading me some of his 'very small comics' for a pretty mediocre mini-comic I bashed together a good few years ago. Still, even if you don't or didn't know him, even looking back at his degree show all those moons ago, it was clear this was work that should have an audience. And boy, does it!
