The staging done for these photos is awesome; I don't normally like this level of production and planning but combined with the strong narratives and bold colours they really work.
I had a really hard time selecting an image to represent Truglia but this one came up trumps. A little kid with a great big beard. Perfect.

Some exceptional street art, primarily around Warsaw, by ROA. Amazing pieces, also photographed beautifully for posterity. I was originally pointed towards his (?) Flickr sets by the always cool www.woostercollective.com.
Kansas native Lori Nix (www.lorinix.com) takes remarkable, beautifully composed, colour saturated photographs.
What's most amazing about them however is that she does all this from within her own apartment/studio; crafting dioramas of the scenes she wishes to shoot. The video explains her thought process and technique but visit her site first and view the images.
'Accidentally Kansas', with it micro-disasters-over turned, trucks, floods and planes about to strike water towers is the standout set for me but they're all fabulous in their own way.

Images from NYC based photographer Amy Stein's 'Domesticated' series were all over the internet (and beyond) and in 2006, Amy was a winner of the Saatchi Gallery/Guardian Prize for the series. I've had her website in my bookmark folder for a while, primarily for these images, but today I found myself revisiting all the photo sets on offer. The image above is from the 'Halloween in Harlem' series but I love them all and they offer exactly what I tend to look for in photography (and art in general); a really strong sense of narrative.
Incidentally, reading her biographical information, turns out Amy's an honourary Edinburgher too, having studied Political Science at the University of Edinburgh.

An amazing series of photographs. No, this isn't Photoshop trickery. This is Sydney, Australia. The curated Flickr gallery is worth a look. This particular image is from Flickr user Mezza http://www.flickr.com/photos/sketchesbymez/
